Little Shop of Horrors

On Thursday 15th May the year 7 and 8's from Sacred Heart school were invited to a musical called 'The Little Shop of Horrors' proformed by Catholic Cathedral College.

The musical was about a boy called Seemore who grew a plant in his bedroom, which then turned into a monster plant which only feed on blood. Seemore called the plant 'Audre two',he named the plant after the girl he liked called Audre.

There was also a live band who played the songs. Seemore was jealous of Audre's boyfriend. One day when Seemore was at the dentist where Audre's boyfriend worked, Seemore took a gun but he was to scared to shot it. Audre's boyfriend loved to put a gas mask over his nose and mouth the inhale the gas. In the end the gas killed him. Seemore then took the body to the flower shop called 'Moushnik's' owned by Mr and Mrs Moushnik, where the plant sat and he feed the body to the plant.

The plant then ate Mr and Mrs Moushnik while they were trying to look for some money that had gone missing. Since the plant had, had so much blood it grew so big and sprouted little Audre two's.

On Thursday the 15th of May Rooms 6 & 7 went to a play called the Little Shop of Horrors at Catholic Cathedral College. The play was about a boy named Seemore who worked at a flower shop. Seemore made giant plants that only fed on blood and people. A girl named Audrey who also worked at the flower shop had a troubled boyfriend and when Seemore found this out he went around to his work at the dentist to find that Audrey's boyfriend had, had a Gas overload and died.

When Seemore went back to the flower shop the plant needed feeding so he feed the plant Audrey's boyfriend. When Audrey's boyfriend disappeared Seemore became Audrey's boyfriend. Mr and Mrs Mushnick, the owners of the flower shop, worked out that Seemore feed the plant Audrey's ex-boyfriend and Seemore didn't like that so he killed them and feed them to the plant.

The plant then bit Audrey and made her very sick and then she died in Seemore's hands. Seemore then feed Audrey to the plant. Because everyone had been feed to the plant Seemore feed him self to the plant. There were hundreds of little plants that sucked blood and ate people

On the 15th May 2014, the year 7 and 8's of Sacred Heart School went to Catholic Cathedral College, to watch the production of Little Shop Of Horrors, performed by the students of Cathedral College

Beginning with a song performed by 6 girls, the play went on to tell the story of a girl named Audrey, a boy named Seymour and his creation, the Audrey 2. The Audrey 2 is a plant that with its unique appearance brings great attention to an unpopular flower store, in which Audrey and Seymour work in for an old couple. At first it seemed that nothing could be better for everyone until Seymour discovers why the Audrey 2 is dying even when he cares for it.

Acting and music was amazingly used to tell the shocking tale of Seymour , his man-eating plant and how it affects all those around him. While managing to find itself a meal, the monster of a plant also found himself succeeding in turning a innocent young man into a killer. His first victim was Audrey's creepy and violent boyfriend who found other people pain enjoyable and loved his job as a dentist. His second and third victims were his employers who had recently asked him to let them adopt him.

The plant didn't think that was good enough to it took Audrey by its self. Tricking her into letting it eat her. The whole thing had back fired for Seymour, ending the life of his beloved Audrey and loosing his employers who were very close to him. The messed up love story had come to a horrible ending and the fame that the Audrey 2 had brought him wasn't worth it anymore. In the end Audrey 2's we're being sold all over America and the Audrey 2 had eaten Seymour as well. I

n this story there was no happy ending for anyone, it ended leaving the audience wondering what happened to the Audrey 2 and everyone who had bought one.

Girls Basketball

Basketball report.

9 nervous basketball players waited for the whistle to blow, unaware of the talent they have as a team. A slow steady start saw the Sacred Heart Celtics pull slightly ahead of the opposition. As confidence grew the girls began to show how effective they were as a team. The half time team talk reminded the girls to retreat quickly and jump for the intercepts. In the second half the team was on fire and scored some excellent goals. The support from the crowd was amazing and the team showed awesome teamwork. The Sacred Heart Celtics won the first game of the season 24-6.   By Annabel

Year 8 Leadership Course

It was a fun two days filled with fun and learning combined.
I learnt a lot of things that will help me be a better leader. I learnt things like how to support others and my team mates and that to use everyone to their strengths you have to communicate and trust in each other because if you don't nothing will work. I felt that some of the team building exercises could of been safer in saying that they were super exciting , the video of the dead people was very eye opening. Other than that it was a fabulous two day that were very informative. Thank you for sending me.

We had our leadership course in Somerfield School for two days.

On the first day we had been lectured on how a leader should act. Leaders should be role models so that their subordinates would follow their examples. We had a slide show of pictures and they were explained to us.

It was awkward with seven schools all grouped together and no one knew each other. Somerfield,  Christchurch South Intermediate, Sacred Heart, Addington, West Spreydon, Cashmere and Thorington had participated in the leadership course run by the Joshua Foundation. The first day was kind of boring as we all sat there on benches for the whole day.

We did do a few activities but I felt very awkward when I was paired up with a boy that was two times taller than I was.

We all got sore bottoms from sitting that day.

The second day was more eventful. They had us split into teams. I still remember their names (which is a miracle): Sydney, Ruben, Shawn, Leon, Hsin Yu, Violet (our Violet), Abby, Zefer – or was it Zephier – or Zefar? I think I forgot someone (probably me).

We were the Aqua team with our own merry little theme song, ‘Teamwork’ from the ‘Wonder Pets’. Trust me; I had no idea where that came from…

The activities had involved a lot of communication, planning and (according to our song) teamwork. I had also confessed that I had a fear of falling, as they may have seen me unable to hold the plank while I was standing on top of a barrel, and I was only one metre off the ground!

Anyways, I still look forward to the meetings later in the year…I THINK Mrs Ferguson said that we all would be meeting up throughout the terms.
