Christchurch City Council Animal Control

Information we gathered from our visit from CCC Animal Control


Use your bag to defend your self from angry dogs
If the dogs on its own leave it alone
Do not tease any dog
If the dog poos it's the owners job to pick it up or there will be a fine
Ask the owner before you pat the dog
If your dog is barking it is more then likely board so give it something to play with or take it for a walk
Take your dog for a 1 hour walk everyday
If a dog is sleeping and you need to wake it up make a noise from a distance
To make sure your dog does not escape make sure the gate is shut
If a dog is tied up leave it alone
If a dog is eating leave it alone 

-you can tell a dogs age my examining its teeth.
-when patting a dog, touch it under its neck/chest.
-if you pat it on the back of its neck it may hurt you as owners may touch that area to restrain the dog from doing something.
-there is three ways to help identify a dog, tattooed ear, microchip, and collar.




Careful Jacob, It's not chocolate!

Don't wake a sleeping dog.
If you do wake it up, make a noise from a distance.
Walk your dog everyday.
Carry a plastic bag when you walk your dog to pick up the poo..
Don't run from an angry dog.
