A good days Basketball

Our big sporting news of the week has been our Yr 7/8 Basketball team winning the Canterbury Primary Schools Basketball Tournament.  In a whole day event the boys played 5 pool games, winning all 5 before progressing to the quarterfinals where they dispatched a tall Merrin team 22-4.

In the Semi-final a fired up St Thomas’ were beaten 26-16 as we marched on to the final.  We faced the only other unbeaten team of the tournament in Ashgrove Primary School.  We knew we needed a fast start as all the games were only 10 minute games.

The final was a showcase of speed and skill with Sacred Heart Celtics bounding out to a huge 34-4 win, the largest win by any team in the tournament.  Congratulations to the team and a thank you to the parents who came down to support the team and to Edgar Dela Cruz for his assistance.

Dramarama

Every Tuesday mornings we do drama in the hall with two drama teachers Anne and Michelle. Throughout the last few weeks we have done some really fun drama. We have learnt slow motion techniques, making objects in groups which are screenshots, learning how to calm our selfs down by breathing and through meditation and when we are in our groups we are practising to use facial expressions and making sure that we are all close enough or touching to create an screenshot. Each week we create new objects and shapes in different groups.
